Hi, I’m Sarah. I live in San Francisco and I’m a native of beautiful Northern California.

My first foray into yoga was around 1988 in a small, dimly lit room at a health club when I was a sophomore in high school, back before yoga studios were really a thing. It seemed weird but intriguing and left me with a curiosity to learn more.

Fast forward to the early 2000’s, when I began practicing regularly. I was immediately drawn to the deliberate movements, the mindful breath and the vitality of the community. I loved that the practice was so individual — strenuous and demanding but less about perfection and more about experience. This ever changing experience is where I find the beauty of yoga. It reveals something new every time, and through movement and observation, we begin to listen to our body’s subtle cues more easily, and discover things about ourselves that we didn’t know were there. Strength, resilience, curiosity. No matter where we are in our lives, or how old we are, or whether we’re having a “good” or “bad” day, the practice of yoga has something to offer us.

As a human, I am equal parts adventurer and homebody. I love traveling, hiking the trails of Mt. Tam and backpacking in the Sierras. I am a rock climber, a lover of dogs and other creatures, a sitter of couches, a listener of music. I’ve also worked in the restaurant industry for over twenty years and believe that good food and good company fuel the soul.

I strive to teach the way that I like to practice, by bringing depth and newness to the fundamentals, exploring physical sensations and finding lightness and humor along the way.
