The simple act of mindfully moving our bodies through space while staying connected to our breath begins to sharpen our subtle powers of observation, and through this we notice detail and beauty. Like turning over rocks and finding whole ecosystems; like looking up between buildings and noticing the clouds; like looking down at your feet and finding the smallest pink wildflower emerging in the spring. Through this practice of noticing we find relation between the sky and the ground, our physical bodies and our greater awareness. The tiniest details become vast and our needs become small.

“We can smile and relax. Everything we want is right here in the present moment.”

- Thich Nhat Hanh

Yoga is for everyone. It does not require flexibility or a “zen” mind. You don’t need to be able to touch your toes or sit in Lotus pose. In fact, you don’t even need to know what Lotus pose is. Yoga simply asks that you show up as your messy self and listen to what’s there. It asks that you inhabit your body, regardless of what that body looks like. It asks you to notice. And slowly, through this act of noticing, we find connection to ourselves and community with others. We cultivate our sense of humor and broaden our sense of kindness. We clear away space for continued learning.
